Thank you. So they are all in same ballpark for 5 gallon cans.

I'm due.

5 gallon pail of Sunoco Optima, one 12.8 oz bottle + one 2.6 oz. bottle XP+ puts me at 42:1 +or-. Easy, no more calibrated eyedroppers for me!
I snagged some single gallon cans, on clearance, of Sunoco Optima 95. Runs identical to the VP. Im switching to that completely once the VP is gone. I can get the 5 gallon pail of optima locally $10 less than VP.

Name this oil....

Ran @ 32:1 for just over 1.25 gallons before it gave up. It was cleaned before running this and it had around 160 psi compression with the short adapter for my compression tester. This engine uses a long reach plug. IMG_20210722_145324207~2.jpg IMG_20210722_145620054~2.jpg IMG_20210722_145828070~2.jpg IMG_20210722_145857171~2.jpg

I don't think even Klotz would leave a mess like that without some other issue going on: overheat seizing, poor port chamfer, foreign object ingestion... Maybe it was run so lean that detonation blew the top of the piston apart letting that aluminum sand tear it up.

Did you not see the crown? And completely intact piston in the pictures? The head? Detonation removes carbon and the metal underneath. It didn't ingest anything. It was ran on a concrete approach to the rear of the garage. It has an oiled foam air filter. I charmered the ports and this cylinder ran several gallons through it. I got a new piston and rings 3.25 gallons ago.

The crown looked rough and a little pitted to me, but I can't say I've seen many pictures of detonation.
