What oil is best? and what ratio?

One of my buddies, that's a Logger, didn't change his brand of oil just the amount used. He went from 50:1 to 40:1. Longer saw life now.

Like this is hard to figure out? If you have a drive chain on a motorcycle, do you think it will survive longer if you keep it flushed with oil?

How about a four-stroke that looses oil pressure for a little bit? Maybe a two-stroke that is running 20-1 versus someone that runs 100-1 or 80-1 or 50-1?

My Dad ran our outboards for bait digging on 20-1 reclaimed 4-stroke motor oil. He had a tank of proper water-cooled two-stroke oil that he used for starting and heading out in the bay. When he got to open water, he switched tanks to the 20-1 motor oil.

He had to de-carbon the engines a few times, but we never had any engine problems. I wouldn't doubt those outboards are still running some where.

I figured I better measure a little. Now I fill the oil jug up after leaving one pint of oil in the gallon jug[emoji23]

Knew a logger 25 yrs. ago went through a Husky (don't remember size) falling saw every six mo. @50:1 Husky oil. Went to 25:1 was stilling falling w/same saw for six years.
