I am currently running a 20k change intwrval in my 2012 Toyota Tacoma using Mobil 1 Annual Performance. Used oil analysis says the engine is doing great and I am not nice to it..

Biggest reason I change mine so often I drive 30-40k+ a year and rely on my car for my job. I like to look everything over every 5k miles. If I’m going to jack it up and do that I’m going to go ahead and change the oil. I would love to do annual changes but I drive way too much lol. Only data I can tell that it helps is other Camrys I hear that go 10k changes have the VVT gear rattle at start up where mine with 110k has none at start up. Don’t know if it is due to the oil change or not but I know almost all 2.5l 4 cyl Toyota engines have it.

Edit that being said I don’t stop everything that I’m doing and change exactly at 5k. I’m probably around 6-6500 right not but I’ve been working 6-7 days a week so I will get it changed soon. Just don’t like to stretch it to 10k but don’t stress if it’s around 6-7k either.

I haven't seen that with K2 but I don't run it at 32:1 in my trimmers or blowers. I personally feel that 32:1 is too much in the lower revving equipment, and when I take a blower or trimmer apart that's been ran on 50:1 and tuned correctly, it's always soaking wet with oil. Saws "especially ported ones" tend to be much dryer inside with 50:1 mix.

It all depends on application and tuning. I don't really pay attention to the buildup on the piston crown much, you will always have some carbon on the crown. What I look at is the ring groves, bearings, wear on the piston skirt and exhaust port buildup.
I have ran 32:1 in a FS85, FS 250 and several different back pack blowers without issue.
My redmax back back blower and that FS85 have a ton of hours on them too. The 85 was actually rescued from a friend who used it for several years in his lawn care business. I used it for 6 years commercially and for thr last 10 years around my yard. Ive never replaced the sparkplug in it and neither had my friend.

Highway miles are a little easier on motor and oil and you can stretch it out a bit.
Just trying to save you a little money.

@bwalker
Where do you send your oil?
I use Blackstone labs.

I’m in home health, so while a lot are Highway miles, I also go down dirt roads, through mud holes, pot holes the size of my car, ice, snow, and more lol. That’s why I check my car over so much cause I’ve routinely had to go to places that people in trucks don’t like to go. That’s why I check underneath so often. While my motor has been great, it has been through one torque converter (design flaw replaced for free under warranty with free rental) a radio, and only one door lock works routinely (I’m in and out of my car 20-30 times per day) and the one that works has been replaced lol. The others I may do myself (dealer wants $500 a door now that my extended warranty ran out) or just leave it. If I could buy a brand new off the line mid 90s Camry with a manual transmission and a 4x4 v6 extended cab Tacoma Manual transmission I would. At least this car has a lifetime power train through southeast Toyota so I will probably use it after my engine dies hopefully after 400k and keep trucking. Just wish manual door locks and manual transmission and manual windows were still options.

I hear you and completely understand. Heck with 400k, your into diesel territory. Lol
I bought my kids used Lexus ES300s. Both old but in great condition. They both have the Camry V6 motor. They fell under the sludge conditions. From day 1 when I got them I have used Mobil 1 5W30 oil. I change at 5K intervals. No signs of any sludging. [emoji106]
My sons car has about 168K and my daughter about 130K.
Motors and transmissions run smooth as silk. [emoji5] One is 1999, the other 2001.

I’ve seen a lot of worse shape Camrys with more than 400 on then so I’m hoping mine will lol everything is smooth now that the TC is changed out. Their cars are probably just now getting broken in. You can’t beat the old Japanese built Toyota/Lexus If properly maintained (not follow Toyota’s dyno recommendation OCI hints the sludge problems they had.) also most people think that since they drive short trips they can go the long OCI which is why they also had a lot of sludge problems. They could probably get by with the dyno OCI on highway miles but people never bothered to read the harsh condition recommendations.

I dont have the desire..The info is out there. Do some research.

There is not one thing thrue of what you post is your reply, so correct me. And than you give me a stupid answer.

Did a lot research. My firts post i write: my toughts. My toughts about my experience. Stihl hp ultra oil at 40:1 gives a lot of carbon build up. I m talking about my oil, a semi syn. Tomorrow when i m in the shed a post a pic of my experience with a semi oil at 40:1 in a dolly 119.

I think a lot of the questions and issues have been hashed out several times over. You just have to go back about 100 pages and read through this thread. Some of it is just foolish banter, but some very insightful information. Most all of this has been asked and answered 10 times over. Just don't take it the wrong way please.
Just go back and read through.

The problem is: there is a minarel oil, semi oil, full syn oil and full syn esther based oil. Its weird that my experience is the same as a lot of people over here in Europe and in the US there is nothing happening as our experience.

Dont think that i am talking bxxxx. No bad feelings to others that have not the same experience/problems.
Just not gonna post more in this topic.

I understand. Maybe a USA/European thing? Slightly different fuel? Slightly different oil additives? Could be many different variables involved.
Find what works for you over on your side of the pond and stick with it. [emoji106]

The problem is many people observe something inside their motor and attribute it to oil. The truth is porting, compression ratio, carb tuning, and fuel all influence what they have observed.
Some engines just burn dirty(latter Lawn Boys) while other burn pretty clean even on castor oil (cr500).
It takes some knowledge and desire to get to the bottom of whats really happening inside your engine.

One other thing. Dont assume one synthetic is better than a synthetic blend. In many cases this isnt the case.
Yamalube 2R, which is a syn blend is a better oil than many full synthetics. Team Honda used it back in the day instead of the full synthetic oil Honda sold. Phillips Xamax back in the day was the best kart racing oil you coukd get and it was also a syn blend.

Do you feel it's true that some semi synthetics still have qualities that protect metal and rubber, and those qualities are lost when an oil is refined into a full synthetic?

I just picked up a really sweet 2002 E39 BMW 540iT wagon with 212K on it for next to nothing. Prior owner ran only synthetic and changed it religiously (I've got his records). That V8 purrs like a kitten. Hope to get another 50-100K out her. More if I'm luck. My local BMW mechanic lowes it and wants me to sell it too him. No chance. He'll get plenty of money from me in the next 5 years.

I would love a fun to drive German vehicle one day, but cannot afford the repair bills for their over engineering right now lol.
