I've used BeNol in my Banshee and have smelled KL200 and just can't seem to like it.

In my bike its not so bad but when its right under my nose all day its too much.
I havent used any oil that doesnt irrtate me in a cornered tightspot though. R50 and h1r was the worst to my snorter

I wanna try Royal Purple in my trimmers and blowers as its lower viscosity around what manufacturers oils are and should tune and run good. Ill stick with kl200 @ 42to1 in my ported saws as Ive seen the results of kl200 in my saws and no need to look any further

Good stuff Chris, u should try it. If bought by the gallon it works out to about 13$ per liter
Im not denying Klotz is good oil or saying Saber is better. In my bike i like K2 and my OPE and saws i like Saber. With my Preferred Customer discount i get Saber for less than $9 a quart.

Gotcha. Every man has preferences and whatever works and satisfies him is the way to go! Ive used k2 and saber also and liked them both

Have been around two strokes all my life and never had the oil smell that gives you headaches and stinks, But I can relate to what ya'll are saying. Gear oil makes me want to puke. I hate the smell of that stuff.
I never had a problem until I started milling stuff. The ultra and H1R would give me headaches and I would sneeze and carry on until I went and showered right away. Klotz

I don't like the smell Ultra. I run cutoff saws in ditches at work and hate it... The fumes will start to burn your eyes if you're cutting a lot. We try and use air saws to avoid all the fumes.
I believe the headaches are more the carbon dioxide....

When I tune a saw in my garage, I close it up to try and keep the external noise to a minimum for the neighbors.

The Stihl Ultra, Penrite MC2ST and Ryobi fully synthetic that I have all made smoke that was choking and burnt my eyes and nose if I stayed in the garage.
Klotz Benol makes the same amount of smoke but is not as physically offensive to my eyes and nose.

None of them have a smell that I dislike, but I like the Benol best.
It smells like something you would pour over ice cream in the bottle compared to the others

Looks like they have the same API TC rating but the racing oil lists a JASO FC, FD rating with rates it for far higher detergency, lower smoke and port blocking capacity but the same lubricity and a lower rated FB oil.

Unfortunately the standard Valvoline doesnt list and JASO rating

Air Cooled

ISO EG-B/JASO FB

ISO EG-C/Jaso FC
As per EG-B/FB but with severe restrictions on exhaust smoke, system blocking
and detergency
ISO EG-D/JASO FD
Enhanced detergency and varnish protection compared to EG-C/FD

I have bitten my tongue for a long time.. Benol is the totaly wrong oil for a saw.. Many downsides to its use and it's foolish to use it in an application like this.

Not questioning this, just want to know the reasoning behind it.

What is the difference between benol in a motorbike or chainsaw 2 stroke?
