I ran that Pennzoil two-stroke oil back in my desert racing days. A piped air-cooled engine without fan cooling going flat out up hot desert sand washes during the heat of summer - never had a problem. I ran it at 32-1 and preferred it to a few synthetic oils I tried as it had better throttle response. Since it didn't give me any issues, I stayed with the Pennzoil and the better throttle response. - I expect the present additive formula is a bit better than back in the 70s.

I didn't notice it at the time, but I read later that the Pennzoil was preferred by the ultralite guys as it gave better fuel economy than the synthetics. Probably true since the petroleum based oil could break down under combustion and provide more hydrocarbons to burn. When you are going cross country with 1,000' of air under your ass, having a bit more range in the tank is a nice bit of safety to have.

I find synthetics don't combust and aid the combustion process as well as mineral in saws. I think many would change oils if they based their decision on performance rather than marketing. But most round here right off a high quality mineral oil without proper consideration. Shell advance SX is what I run. They make VSX(semi synth) and a full synthetic (ASX I think). Tried them all and the SX is a stand out better choice for my saws. Throttle responce is much better.

remember the lawnboy calls for tcw3 oil at 32:1.

I'd never run that type of oil in a L-B and it doesn't need a 32:1 mix . Those engines are only spinning at 3500 RPM which is a lot less than a saw . You want something burning really clean or the 3 exhaust port holes fill with carbon and usually scratch up the piston a bit too .

I think it runs better because it's burning it.
Ya the extra oil in the bottom bearings shouldnt be any drag but the extra oil on the piston skirt to cylinder wall may be. Ill stick with 42to1 because i know what wear i was seeing at 32to1 with other oils compared to what Im seeing with Klotz. No doubt in my mind u could run kl200 at 50 to 1 in a ported saw with 0 issues
