I agree on the FDE. I bought a Glock 17 in FDE and have come to like it a lot.

Why would you put a Red dot sight on a short barreled concealment gun?
It adds bulk and at defensive distances seems unnecessary, at least to me.

That's what I say, rather defeats the purpose of a small gun. Reminds me of those guys who put a 6-18x50 scope on their .22.

6-24x on mine. I actually want to drop down to 3-18. Spend most of my time in the 12x range. Looking through the scope is a 12x20 target at 300 yards. 10 for 10. Wind was in my favor to say the least. 20201126_162326.jpg 20201126_162449.jpg

I'm a fan of Vortex glass. Good bang for the buck.
I have a 4x16x44 on a CZ 457V in .22 lr.
At 16x it's easy to shoot little groups at 50 yds, as long as I do my part.

I almost bought a cz. I really liked the 457's when they came out. Had I been able to get my hands on one at the time, that's probably what I would have. Then I looked at tikka. Then I went full on crazy and bought not one, but two vudoos.

Vudoos are really nice rifles. Tikka is top drawer as well.
I've been looking at possibly getting a Bergara in .22lr, if I can find one.
I have several rimfire CZ's and find them to be a good value. Not the best but well above average.
Got any pics of the Tikka and other Vudoo?

Didn't go through with the tikka. I wish the bergara would have come out sooner. Trying to convince my brother to buy one now so I can shoot it. 5484.jpegthis one belongs to my wife. Only way I could talk her into it was I had to get her one too. It wears a 3-9x Burris for now. I think the 2.5-10 vortex would do it justice.

Those really are beautiful rifles!
I had 3-9x Burris scopes on several .22 rifles. I've since replaced most of them with either 3-12x or 4-16x power scopes. It's really hard to shoot tiny groups without a lot of magnification, at least for me.

I do have a Leupold 2-7 on a Ruger 10/22 that I put together for shooting vermin around the house.

Looks just like the one I bought my youngest son -- years ago.
Nice! I would say it has probably earned its keep!
Thanks!
This one started as a stripped receiver. I built it up from there.
It's killed a lot of Possum, Racoons and the odd feral cat.

Very nice rifle. Good choice of a scope, too. I'm trying to convince my best friend that he needs to upgrade his scopes. He has a cheap Simmons on one rifle (Marlin bolt action .22) and low end Bushnell on another (Remington 700 .243). What always happens is, he gets them sighted in but over the course of a hunting season the zero wanders. Last year his son was trying to take squirrels with the .22 while they were sitting in the deer blind. He fired at least a dozen times without success. The squacks here are not used to being hunted and will pose for a picture at close range all day long. Next year I'm going to let him borrow my Savage .22 with a receiver sight, I bet he'll get some then.

I understand completely. I have a couple of friends with nice rifles and crap BSA scopes on them. They have issues holding zero as well. They aren't repeatable either. Move the elevation up eight clicks then back down eight clicks and the POI has shifted.

We should probably start a separate thread for rimfire rifles.
It's the one gun that almost every gun owner has at least one of.
