I picked up a Husqvarna 525LS, Echo 2620, and a Stihl 94 last season after getting sick of the 4Mix models. The Echo is by far the most powerful but is heavier than the others. The 525 is almost the same weight as the 94 but has way more power and isn't cold blooded like the 94. In all my years in the lawn business the 525LS is the best day to day trimmer for weekly and biweekly properties I have used. It's light, powerful, and has awesome antivibe.

@Reedo I have the 94R and it was cold blooded until I richened up the low speed jet about half a turn. It was also lean on the high side too. it's been a much much better trimmer after the carburetor adjustment. My Husky 525LS was just the opposite, it was pig rich from the factory.

The problem is he will steer me toward the Shindiawa units

No problem there...get the T262 and don't look back! The comparable Echo is the 2620.

Echo/Shindaiwa is offering 20% off at select dealers during the spring promotion sale. Call your dealer or check their website for a list of participating dealers.

The 94 runs about $350 and the Husqvarna is about $320. I would definitely choose the Husqvarna as it has more power and you can trim a wider swath. The cutter on the guard of the Stihl keeps the line so short it cuts about 20%-25% less per pass. I always felt handicapped trimming with that thing.

@Reedo the guard is the first thing to go when I get a new trimmer.

Thanks Reedo that's just the kind of input I'm looking for to help me make my decision. Wonder why Stihl does that with their guards?

I have have to imagine it's because the 94 doesn't have the power of the 90-130. The other models have different guards or guard placement.
