This 460 case i was heating case to get bearing out in the process oil came out along where bearing insert is cast into case

If oil gets in there can air leak too

So when i powder a case in gets completely sealed (044 pic )

Ive noticed when cases together i pressure test it holds pressure for over 15 to 20 mins and 10 to 15 in vacuum for 10 or more

What do it mean in the running and longevity of saw ?

Guessing the concern would be that the bearing is spun in the pocket. Maybe seal the bearings outer race with some yamabond and call it done for another 20 years. Without Mic and close inspection of the pocket for wear or fracture it's gonna be a tough call.
All i see from here in NJ is a nice powder coat job !!!!

I was heating case to remove bearing on pto sides they put a steel insert in the alum casting that the bearing presses into the oil was coming out from where the steel and alum casting meet
As you can see theres a faint line where the old factory powder is covering this area but very thin

Thanks on the good powder

Looks to me like the mag case expanded quicker than the steel insert and the void showed up. I’d tend to think that once temp stabilized it should seal up. It would still make me nervous though.

I’ve never sleeved one like that Randy. Thought about it though. I’ve had a couple of 395 cases that died from a spun bearing.
