I took .060" off the base and set squish. After bringing the exhaust up, I ended up at 105. Xfers are now at 120. Intake 77. I'm happy with that. I was gonna do an 044, but the crank was broken in half. It's a 12mm 440 with a KS slant fin d jug. It'll probably wear a 20" bar and chain

That's a lot. I think I took .045" off once and thought it was too much. I like 102 on them.

Keep us posted with pics of mods as you go so we can critisise, call you names and tell you your saw won't work and stuff. Nah kidding I think you will do well and gain 40% if the after vid is in snellerised wood.

Yea I was thinking that too. The base is about .220" thick. And it's still .050" from free porting. It's sort of a test bed at this point. The bearings and crank were good. Cases are like new. I'll put a new ring in it and seal it down and see how it turns out.

Compression will be 240 or better I would think with that much off and low exhaust.

Pfft. I could file snellerized rakers and cut 40% faster with a stock saw. Pretty easy to get rpm in the cut with a saw

My squish isn't that tight. I'm at .028. The outside cutting edge of my mandrel wasn't straight after turning out chunks of rings and bearings from the sb. Thought I was head slapping. Took me .020 worth of scratching my head to figure it out. I couldn't see it til I put a ring up into the bore and the ends were touching and it wouldn't go all the way up in. Pissed me off, really. Learning

Been there and done that with the ridge. That's why I took .054 out of an 036 band. Thought it was a head slapper when it wasn't.

I'd raise that exhaust too. My 10mm 044 has a 102* exhaust, .040 from the band, and it's at 220 psi.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been working on drywalling more than saws lately.

I was able to get all of the dent out of the top of the exhaust port. Compression is 205 on a new caber and 1/2 tank of fuel through it. I ended up leaving the ex at 105, but with a bit more squish to help keep the compression down. It'll probably hit 215 when it's broke in. The fingers combined with the low exhaust help it pull like a freight train with a 20" bar on it. I need to get some logs here maybe tomorrow and I'll video some cuts with it.

I have a new one you can have if it will work.

I have a good 12 mm complete crankcase with the fuel tank and handle bar that I'd part with.

Ouch. Looks like someone used a screwdriver for a piston stop. Seen that many times. I'm working on an 028 that was very similar to that.
