I cut down the vent just far enough to clear the filter housing, then close over the top with a soldering iron with a flat blade attached. On the first few I put a small piece of brass ink pen refill in across the top and closed it over, found this is not really necessary and have done 5 more without the brass furrel. The cut down vent allows a MS260 airfilter to be utilized on the older small filter 026`s, the MS filter is a good deal wider and gives more airfilter surface area for air to flow into the 026. I also do a lot of interior modifications to the MS 260 airfilters now to get a good deal more air to the carb.
