Weak 026

The owner sent me a bag of filters when he dropped off the saws. He will not let his guys work on the saws at all. All of the filters he brought were for 260's. I didn't want an open hole for crap to get in so I tried to clean the old filters as best I could. Anyone plug the hole and use 260 filters on 026's? If so, what do you use for plugs?

I read on here guys gluing in foam ear plugs.

I am going to try it myself as soon as I get the short 034 type tank vent for my 026 and use the cheap 260 filters.

A guy I work with uses Shoe Goo for everything! A foam ear plug slathered with shoe goo should be a pretty effective plug.

Check the clutch springs. Make sure they are tight and not loose.

Good point! Does it feel like it's falling on its face, or like its bit off more than it can chew?

sounds like a clutch problem to me.

Also make sure the spur and chain are the same. .325 spur and 3/8 chain will cause the same issue.

There was some of the "bar, chain, and sprocket" confusion going on with these saws. I will check into it too.

I am implementing an "everything takes the same length, pitch, and gauge" setup for them now. All saws will wear 20" .325 of whatever gauge he currently has the most of. The only saws that will be different are the two 660's wearing 36" 3/8" bars. I will tell him to upsize them to .404 when the current bars wear out. (The bars are roller nose)

I can have it revving and touch the wood (very dry red oak left behind by a logging operation) and it slows down to a crawl. I can pull it out of the wood and it will free rev like it should. Put it back in the wood and it is almost like I put the chain brake on.

You might check the rim sprocket for compatibility with the drum if you are running one.
Mini drum and a small rim act up in wood ...ask me how I know.

maybe some extra pictures will help the situation . the most posible is the clutch , sprocket , rim just because the saw works good out of the wood

You need a 260 AF cover for the back end and a modified tank vent on some models.

Plug comp hole with an ear plug.
