For what it costs to heat the current building with natural gas, I'd really be hard pressed to see the advantage of the OWB for this installation. That is particularly true when you consider the relatively small lot and very limited space for anything beyond the building and driveway.

I do have an (inside) add on wood furnace and wood burning stove in the house and a convenient location for the covered woodpile right beside the house...

The "welcome mat" is adjacent to the side door leading to the basement.

The wood furnace loading door is on the far end of the wood stack, the woodbox on the other wall contains the smaller logs my wife likes to burn up.

Very tidy. As I would expect from you sir.
Years ago well before the museum Mark, my son, and I were standing in Mark's home shop.
I said this is no shop! Where is the junk?
He paused a bit, opened a few cabinets, and said there it is.
All I saw was total organization.:D

My contractor friend (demolition, fill, trenching, sewer & water) was busy yesterday with back filling around the foundation and bringing the interior up to grade for the slab in the spring.

The old building did not have any gutters so all the water running off went down into my neighbors crawl space. I will have gutters and downspouts directed into a tile to the storm sewer, plus we installed another perforated tile in the trench to run back into the storm sewer. He took advantage of the exposed wall to have spray foam applied, along with the new tile his building will have benefited from my building project.

Sidewalk and street paving will have to wait until spring...

I believe that you mentioned a connection between the two buildings at roof level, but no connection on the ground floor.

Why not make a connection there?

I believe this is the post you are thinking of.

The old building was too far gone to try and save it. Building will be demolished, sight prepared, and a new building similar to my current one will be going up. Ideally we can get the ground work done and the slab pored before it get too cold, then the contractor can work on the rest as weather permits through the winter months.

My idea is to have two separate buildings, but connect them at ground level with a sort of breeze way, and ideally connect them through the attic areas as well to facilitate parts storage and retrieval in the upper level.

I know you do not want to pour the floor til spring but the weather pundits say you (and I) have some good weather coming next week. I grew up with a father that was a weather watcher. Those were the days of the "thunk thunk" TV. I was the remote He would yell out "put it on 7, put it on 9, put it on 2". He had their weather forecast timed to catch them all. Ole KWWL 7, KCRG 9 and KGAN 2. I still watch them a bit.

Not a lot has happened with the new building but I have been keeping busy with parts, repairs, and getting a few more saws cleaned up for the display.

Currently have the John Deere branded Echo twin hitting the bench, and that will be followed by a Lombard/Dynamark.
