The old building was too far gone to try and save it. Building will be demolished, sight prepared, and a new building similar to my current one will be going up. Ideally we can get the ground work done and the slab pored before it get too cold, then the contractor can work on the rest as weather permits through the winter months.

My idea is to have two separate buildings, but connect them at ground level with a sort of breeze way, and ideally connect them through the attic areas as well to facilitate parts storage and retrieval in the upper level.

A skilled operator can work wonders.

The dude is good, but they picked the right machine. Those C series Case machines were smooth as silk.

I remember back when the mini excavator challenges were first a thing as a couple… Shall we say, more production oriented Canadian guys put this out:

Interestingly enough, Jason Klapstein (who runs Vantagetes) was on Mythbusters years ago to confirm… The mini excavator challenges.

I once had a excavator operator from Canada tell me it was impossible to flip one.
He was full of cow poo

The old building had (at one time) decent footings, even a low basement/tall crawl space on one end and dirt on the other end. At one time someone dug a trench down the middle so they could run drains when they added a bathroom up front.

The last bit has been crunched up and moved towards the west end.

Contractor expects to finish removal tomorrow, then it's time to remove the old walls, fill the hole, and get the site leveled and to grade.

Building gone, old foundation gone.

My neighbor took advantage of the opportunity to have some spray foam applied to the lower section of his newly exposed wall.

Contractor hauled in 12 loads of dirt to fill the hole.

It was necessary to replace the old water service, required some street removal to access the water main.

It is a little surprising that no saws have ever gone missing even though they are just stuck in slots in the posts...

On the other hand, saws, trimmers, and the occasional power washer or tiller just appear out the back door from time to time.

Sadly here they would disappear. In March 2017 when one of our houses in Muscatine got hit by the tornado the scrounges went through the place stealing stuff.

Last week the trenches for the footings were dug, poured today, and the ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) set up so they can pour the frost walls tomorrow. My guess is that will end the work until spring, can't risk pouring the floor and then having it freeze and heave it.
