Dormer are fully framed, sheathed, and they have a good start on getting the barrier down before the shingles (steel slabs) go down. The parapet in front is intended to make it look more "commercial". I have asked the contractor to box the sides all the way to the ground to eliminate the jutting edges in outer space.
I dropped off a filing cabinets I got at auction at the contractors building for storage and noticed some "leftover" trusses. Turns out the vendor miscalculated and sent 5 extras...the contractor suggested he could use them to extend the roof over the driveway to form a sort of car port/covered parking. Checking with the city we have just the required clearance to the power lines, building inspector says we're O.K. as we are still at least 10' off the center line of the alley so we'll go for it.
Here the contractor is preparing the foundations/pillars that will support the far end of the roof.
The extra roof will extend 11' from the end of the building and will provide an excellent location to put my hoist for hauling heavier items up into the attic space and won't require cutting a hole in the insulated ceiling.
Shingles should go on and windows should be installed next week, I hope.
