Trying to see if anyone has good advice relevant to pursuing compensation.

If you aren't interested in my post, don't read it. Really don't need your snarky comments.

I find most of the responses here pretty helpful, yours, not so much.
Call your post office they'll be open today ask them politely what the next step would be to file a claim. And go from there If you act like crap they won't help

Best rule you can have when packaging anything is this: picture the shipper kicking your package the entire way to the destination and package accordingly.

I agree 100 percent on never using the original box for anything.

They advised me to go on line and go thru the help link to file the claim. I ship a lot of stuff and on good terms with the employees.

I always insure my shipments, sometimes for 1000 or more depending what's in the box.

This is actually one of the cheapest saws I have sent out, so kinda glad it wasn't a new saw worth double.

Haven't had a chance to file claim on line, very busy working.

Thanks for all the help and entertaining, but shocking responses.

I try to use a plain box when shipping to not give a hint to the contents. If the box isn't plain I use a magic marker on it. I also don't think I'll ship any saws around the holiday season. I still use USPS however, mainly because the other carriers are impractical to use in my location.

U just never think of a saw being fragile, takes an awful hard hit to break one.

Just have to double box and styrofoam from now on.

Went to post office to ask what to do, they said it is all on line, good luck!!!

It was packed pretty well, bubble wrap, extra card board, paper stuffed to make it tight.

It must have been dropped or thrown to bust that piece.
I always put extra padding around the handle end of the saw, seems to be the most vulnerable part of the saw. Imagine the saw being dropped on that little plastic handle!

Got everything documented and filed, see how long it takes for a response.

Next one getting the fragile insurance protection
