It's weird bud. Tight arc.

Can dip and it's not terrible like aluminum.

But the filler wants to ball up on ya. Tough to make beads that aren't too "proud".

Regular cup or a gas lens?

Nice set up with the copper "non-stick" tube to control the inside diameter.

Looks like you could mend anything but a broken heart or fix any crack but the crack of dawn.

That inner dog is falling off everyone I've seen.

I have been replacing the bolt with a stud on all that get worked on here. If the nut comes loose it only wallers the threads on the outside of the stud and not the case threads. Just replace the stud.

Good idea Mike. The one I had didn't leak oil that was stripped out and just holding the spike on with M6 bolt.

I have quite a few cases that had the hole tapped for a larger bolt for the fix. That leaves no bolt to the inner threads of the case. Local loggers here have boxes of cases with the flywheel side hole stripped and the dowel hole wallered out letting the cases shift and roaching the bearings.
No time to stop cutting just to snug up the inner dog. I am trying to remedy that.
With the stud and double nuts on the top dog mount I've yet to have one loosen up since.

I'm fascinated with the welding talk, I know nothing about tig welding. The welders I use weld right over dirt and grease while in a giant mud hole in the middle of nowhere. Good times!
