Case capacity helps with torque in most cases.

I thought the only difference with the short/long case was oil tank capacity. No?

I've seen it said that is normal from the factory heat treat. How does the bearing look?

I just measured two split cases I have with calipers and the long case does have a slightly larger crank throw area.

If I we're building one out of this stockpile I'd use the short case, poly unlimited,
Mahle non decomp 96,120,82, and I'd go through all the carbs and find the one with the largest metering passage and or venruri.

That's what I ended up doing. I used the wj76. I didn't compare Venturi size though.

Crankcase capacity is different as well, i measured with tranny fluid

Sodcutter Dave measured case capacity and there was a difference.

Only takes a few seconds under the right conditions

That new one i got for you was blue if i remember right and it was never run.

I've found the early 066 with small conrod bearing to be the best of the ones I've built. Also those tend to have the factory hot rod, non decomp cylinders on them.

That new one i got for you was blue if i remember right and it was never run.

That new one is in the vice now .......... I dont recall seeing the rod blued on either end, my CRS is in full bloom though.
I'll doublecheck later tonight when I get home

I've seen a couple new ones blue. Maybe it wasn't that one.
