I've got an 026 I picked up a while ago, getting ready to put it back together shortly. Has anyone found any gain from tunnel porting the case. These cases seem to have a very flat shelf into the transfers. Just wondering if grinding a transition trough on each side would produce any gains? I'm not looking to build a race saw, just a woods mod.

I don`t want to loose any more case compression down low as opening up the upper transfers already lowers case compression on my saws but a bit of JB weld/epoxy in the right places restores some of the lost area.

Just wondered if a little notch in the back on each side would help as the crank comes up around. Possible 1 cc or less on each side removed. I would think some of this could be made up by cutting cylinder base or the gasket delete.

Look into tree monkeys build threads. You may find something similar to what you're thinking about
