That's a generous offer and brilliant business strategy.

I already have my own measurements and know exactly what I need taken out of the squish and off the base.

That's got my wheels turning Jacob. 🤔 I've seen lots of guys, like myself, interested in trying their hand at porting but without the ability to PROPERLY turn cylinder bases and cut chambers.

How much would be a fair price to change for such a service?

I've machined many cylinders in the past years for those looking to try porting that don't have a lathe. I usually charge around $70 to cut the base and squishband.

Sounds very reasonable to me.

Was curious how many cylinders a guy would have to turn to pay off a $2000-$3000 lathe. 😁
I've used my lathe for lots of things I never would have thought about before I got one. It's a very handy tool.

What other kind of stuffs Randy? I've thought of a few things including rebarreling/chambering bolt guns.

Now you have my wheels turning.....i got an 044 that needs .010 off the base.....LOL .031 squish is a bit excessive... i like the way my 661 runs with .0205 squish.... we may be in touch in a month or so once i get my 362 built...🤣

Just think if you had him take .040" off the base and .030" out of the band. You could go beat up on all the 460s and 461s😁

Its currently almost even with the 500i i was running side by side this afternoon....the 500 just edges it out...😉
That's pretty good. Even in stock form the 500i is no slouch.

This was a stock, fresh rebuild with about 8 tanks thru it... my 044 has a light woods port with untouched uppers, widened intake and exhaust, and about 1.5° added to intake and exhaust...

Mostly rebuilding sprockets and shafts for old farm implements.
That's impressive. I'm guessing some of the parts you're fabricating are hard to find, expensive or no longer available.
What lathe are you running? Would you buy the same one if you had to do it again?

It's a 9x20 I bought from Enco. From what I can find, it's not made anymore. Jet has one that is similar. Yes, I'd buy it again. It has been a great little machine.

That's what I have also but I have the Jet variation. I believe mine is a Jet BD920N. I think all or most of the 9x19 and 9x20 machines where about the same. Can't hardly find parts for mine anymore. Have to buy parts for a grizzly G4000.
