What I'm seeing is that when I use trimmer line that is supposed to be a fast cutting line, it doesn't eject well from the Speed Feed head. Then I have to take it apart and feed it through again. It seems certain brands ( Echo Black Diamond, for example ) sort of sticks to itself in the spool because of all the sharp edges and won't eject when you smack the bump head. Thinking of getting a smoother line that doesn't have as many rough edges. Are any of you experiencing this? I know the Black Diamond cuts very well, but what I'm gaining in cutting time I'm losing in disassembling the head every time I use it. This is fresh line, too.
I'm not sure if the OP is still watching this, but I'd like to chime in. MAKE SURE THE INNER SPOOL ISN'T IN BACKWARDS!!! We've sold hundreds of these heads and the only problems we see are from people putting the spool in upside down. If it is going in a straight-shaft trimmer (counter-clockwise rotation), the "L" stamped into the spool needs to be facing out during reassembly. If the "R" is facing out, it won't feed.

Also, running the line too short will feed more heat back into the head and weld the line more quickly. Maybe this was already covered--I didn't bother reading all the posts.

I’ve had luck as others said soaking my line. I also cannot speak highly enough of the max power twisted line. It’s super durable.

I didn’t have much luck using the gray husqvarna line, or the echo red color one.
This was my experience too.

I got it together with the trimmer, but I don't dare use it 😉

6 years ago I bought a 3 pound spool of Husqvarna Titanium Force line. I have only used about 2 pounds of it and it still is pliable, doesn't stick to itself, and doesn't break off at the head. I pack as much into the head as I can when I spool it in as well.

Never had to soak it in water, but South Carolina has ridiculously high humidity.

I have been impressed with how it holds up while scrubbing centipede grass off the asphalt, and along wire fences, but it was my first departure from cheap line, so I can't compare it to any "good" lines in terms of performance, but I can say it has been trouble free for me in terms of spooling and feeding.

I am using Stihl FS131r's with standard 27-2 heads with .105 Black Diamond. Have not had the first welding or breaking. I do not use guards so I don't have tremendous string head rpm. Probably run my string at 12". I do not soak my string.

I found my first Alko heads, 10 mowing seasons, 0.5 ha, 2.4 mm line / I ordered 27-2 heads, but I have to change the nut - $15 with shipping

The Chinese 10x1.25 adapter fits, you have to insert it the other way around. The key is less than 19mm
The collar of the Chinese nut will increase the spring tension

In my opinion, the original nut in the spool has too much play. If it weren't for the washer, it would rattle, I had to correct it, although probably no one looks there
