Trimmer Lines Breaking Off Inside Speed Feed

I've had this problem and try to only load 12ft as a time. The extra "breathing room" seemed to help alot.

Same for me. I don’t wind as tight, and I switched to Echo speed feed type head.
A knock off one from flea bay works good for me.

Today I worked on a patch of golden rod which is a highly invasive plus gigantic weed .These things can get over eight feet tall and as thick as your big toe .I used a micro chain saw to wittle them down to around one foot and a Stihl weed wacker with nylon blades to take them to the ground .A standard line trimmer head could not do that but a blade head can .

This 3.3mm/.130" square line (yellow, gauge flat to flat) is a bulldozer!!!
And I have just the right line head that can handle it, comes OEM with some sturdy 3.0mm/.118" round line.

So far the Stihl cf3 pro line has been awsome, cuts well, holds up well and doesn’t seem to weld itself together or hang up in head. Stihl does recommend soaking the line in water 24-48 hours before use.

If you wind too much line, you either won't close the spool or you have to pull it out manually for some time.

The line is glued together by excess revolutions, the engines reach different speeds, but also the gears - some are faster and others slower

I just had it happen two weeks ago. Found that the spool where you loop the line is wearing and caused a bind/break. Have used for a few hours since without problem. I am a T35 user and have been for a long while now. Happy with the Echo orange line. Will trim nicely around the yard but still eat small saplings and brush.

The largest 130mm heads are quite massive to withstand this. The Italian Tecomec and Oleomac are popular here. You must know that after such a set, the gear will heat up more and the grease will run out faster

Most bigger Stihl heads go up to .105 then everyone seems to head into the nylon blade heads or metal grass and weed blades. I’ve never ran or even seen .130 that I can recall.

is that triangle thing supposed to spin off? I dont know how else to get it apart and put more line on it.

Yes. I think it is a left hand thread, i.e. clockwise to loosen.

Thank you. Got the trimmer from my neighbor. Needed a carb and fuel lines. Now it runs great. Even got a updated carb with a purge bulb.

I also have this in my little Kawasaki, only this knob has the shape of a two-bladed propeller The paradox is that this spool brakes the engine in contact with the ground, and it is used in small engines, so you should mow higher.

I’ve had luck as others said soaking my line. I also cannot speak highly enough of the max power twisted line. It’s super durable.

I didn’t have much luck using the gray husqvarna line, or the echo red color one.
