Trees you've cut

I did get to ride in the basket today, spent about and hour and a half working limbs from the top. We did not quite get all the brush down before the rains (and lightening) came



Later on I was on the ground again and Erik was sending logs down with the crane.



Weather permitting we will finish taking it down tomorrow. Rather than dropping the main stem the plan is to take a big chunk at a time with the crane and lay them in the yard to buck them into firewood lengths.

I never cared for that style of grapple, but once you get onto it you and fit a good trip of wood behind it.

Erik let me take the remaining stem down today. Don's (AKA sawfun) CP125 worked like a champ. The 48" roller nose bar was not quite enough in a few instances.

Yes, for my 266. The pulley in that housing was a bit short, slipped off the flywheel dogs. So I machined a longer one from a bad later model 272 starter down to what I needed, turned into total starter rebuild. Filthy in there.

The way things are looking, you might be spending a lot of days cutting burned timber. I saw the Dixie fire is almost 900k.

Well that was disappointing… I posted several weeks ago about this pine that uprooted.



I put the butt end on my mill and found out the the log was the world’s largest ant condominium. A 24” diameter log yielded five 2x4s and one 2x6. What a waste of time.

That is an 044 with a 30" bar in the hollow of that Pecan.

A 110' foot Pondarosa Pine struck by lightning.

A massive Live Oak removal, unfortunately this is the only pic that survived. Not my job but I did assist.
This picture shows about 1/3 of the tree remaining. It had a super huge canopy!!

It is complete, I just don't have the final completed job pics yet.
