Sassafras today, top exploded when it hit the ground.
First 10' or so was nice and straight and dry with no rot.
Saving it to mill, maybe make a bench or something...

Is sassafras considered soft or hard wood? I've never cut one. Maybe even never even seen one. Lol

Soft, similar to cedar, supposed to be rot and bug resistant.
They always seem to be hollow or rotten whenever I encounter one though!!

Yes at my last house. It was between my and neighbors houses. Some limbs were hanging over both. Neighbor asked if he could have it trimmed back. I told him I would split the bill with him.

Fast forward several months. I pulled in my drive and the tree srvc is just finishing a tree removal. I had to walk away I was so hot.

I counted 150 rings and the stump was 52”
