Dead pine tree leaning over a dear friend's electric main. Group effort that time. I spiked up and limbed with the 200t till it ran out of gas which was just far enough to put a tag line in it and pull it on over. Was nerve racking manning the tag line while someone else notched and fell it. I'll stick to the chainsawing next from now on, safety first... IMG_3442.JPG IMG_3443.JPG IMG_3444.JPG

I'll have something to add come this weekend. I have a coworker that wants a popular down. He claims its 5' but its really looks more like 3' at DBH. It might be 42" down where it'll be cut. More to come. Nice pics.

Its over 9' across the trunk. I still have to flush it and grind it out.
Tree Monkey 660 did the main killing with a helping of TM 461

Cut this up the other day. About 100yds away burnt most of it already !!!
I don't usually drop trees. Just scrounge, split, burn repeat.

I'm very fortunate that around here scrounging is very easy as almost no one burns wood for heat so very little competition when the need arises for firewood. But that also makes selling it worthless so I don't sell firewood for that reason.

View attachment 59327 Thought I'd start a thread on trees you've cut and what saw you used to do the job. This was a 3 foot 150+ yr old red maple I cut at my uncles house, it was too close to his fence/house and was pretty easy to drop however. I pre cut a smaller sycamore so it when bigger maple fell it would break out of the way. Used a 576xp and 372 to cut it down.

You sure that is Red Maple? Looks like Norway Maple to me based on the bark. Norway is almost as hard as Sugar Maple and is very hard to split. Red Maple usually has a smoother bark, is softer, and easier to split.
