Put an old wild cherry down today. Came across it the other week and figured I needed it. 22” on the base. Got two 10 foot logs to mill then 5 logs for bbq firewood. About 53 year old tree. Was only down the road so took the forklift for a cruise to grab it. D458A799-FC8E-408C-B288-7E8D308A526A.jpegA0EB880F-9BC2-464A-A713-8B18BFA494F1.jpeg 737F8F86-2F31-4DE5-8B3F-CE8643A1E026.png

Why the tall stump?

It's a "Schoolmarm". If the stems on a schoolmarm as a set of doubles are out of lead, then you fall them the way Mr. C did in his pictures.

If it's in lead to fall them as a set of doubles broadside, then you can do that. You have to make sure the union is strong enough for that though.

ENGRISH PREASE !?!?!?!?
You basically have 2 trees growing up from 1 trunk ,some refer to them a codominates . You can fell each lead trunk independently or down low from the side of the two trunks if they are conjoined as one down low.

I could have fell them together if the lead was sideways, but the lead was straight up or straight down and I was fairly confident things would have went haywire if I tried to fall them together straight up or straight down, so spring board time
