So sorry to hear this, best of luck going forward Dom.

I've had my share of frustrations in the past ... but they were larger than with saws ... so put it in perspective and move forward.

When building the house was victim of arson, 1st wife left me and the girls (was a single parent for 4 years), the dogs back surgery was not 90% effective, and when the well went dry it cost me 20 grand to get water back!

Luckily, all of these things are far in the rear view mirror and I can talk about them like they were not so painful. But for a while it was one thing after another, after another, and it was tough going.

Hope your next saw is a Steller performer and reliable as can be.

It absolutely could be rebuilt, I am however electing not to put another top end on it. Im too much into it and I am utterly and completely frustrated. The cylinder somehow became scored again and I just haven't got the money or the patience for this saw anymore.

The dealer isn’t standing behind it?

Not stock. They said they would cover anything for me if it was stock, we have a very good relationship...but husky likes pictures for warranty work.
I think he's going Six 6 won Mike!!!
Ehhh a little rich for my blood.
Did you get to run it this time?
I let it run for about 20 seconds

What’s a new top end cost?

Just thinking outloud here for a minute. Why not just get another new top end and get back to stock? With a MM it should run ok, NO?
You're probably right, I may do that in the future. A respected member of the community asked me to send the saw to him for inspection. Im blown away at his generosity and kindness. I may do that before I do anything else.

I really appreciate the guys sympathizing and keeping my spirits up. Ive been real bummed the past couple days over it. Nothing but love, guys.

How I see it: the 572xp is torque-y like my ms460 plus better anti-vibe and autotune, so is worth rebuilding. If it were me, I'd do just that, keeping it bone stock. Find a .pdf shop repair manual, take photos, tear down the whole thing, inspect and clean. Reason I say tear it down is because I had the ill fortune of replacing the top end on the fried ms460 I got, courtesy of the local saw shop, only to find that aluminum bits stayed in the bottom end and eventually junked the main bearings and made their way into the new p/c. That's when I took everything apart; replaced main bearings, seals and a new top end. Learning experience the hard way for sure but worth it; it's my go-to saw when it counts. Also received major tech support during the process from the local shop.
