Took down this monster cottonwood last week. It was 105’ tall and 5ft+ at the ground. The flared part where the stems began is 10-12ft wide which is also the cut in the pictures. It weighed about 13,000lbs. There were 2 cuts below the flair that weighed around 3500 each. My wife’s out of work from the corona virus so she ran the crane I did the cutting.

Sick log truck! Also impressive that your wife can operate that crane :)

I have some ideas, but how would y’all tackle this one? I have a man lift that will probably get me close to the top. B8E24F30-902C-4D75-9B25-8532BEC7A9F6.jpeg

Zipline all the branches that are to big to cut and throw, rope the big wood down off one of the adjacent trees.

It amazes me how those outriggers hold that much boom.
This truck really works them with the combo of overcenter and 2 elevators. I’ve never felt like it’s unstable but careful setup and big pads are a must for soft ground. It has so much reach it’s worth the little extra time to setup.

@Uzi I’d work for you for free for a vacation…

Come on out I’ll cook the New York’s and ribeyes. You can drive around in the HEMTT and I’ll give you more time on a saw or in a bucket than most sane people would want. It’s not always easy but it’s rewarding and you feel like you’ve accomplished something at the end of the day. A096BE3E-0DA2-4617-BA23-9FD773E496FC.jpeg
