I don't recall anyone showing interest in the port or ignition timing.

True, but many have ported different ways, and tried different advances and yet still have the issue. Most saws can be made to scream if leaned out, if they have unlimited coil. Yet this one eludes for most.

the system can and will feed more fuel to the engine then it can burn. that's been tested

Do you still have the stock mtron carb harness with solenoid attached to the 4701?

out of curiosity, what are you guys using for spark plugs?

why give all your secrets and have it copycatted
Agreed. Scott works on saws for a living and slugs it out on his own instead of copying the work of others.
It seems possible that if the solenoid circuit is maintained, the coil will not limit rpm. If so, a resister could instead be spliced into the harness. If I understand correctly, in stock form, it is programed to dump fuel to limit rpm. Maybe as a secondary strategy, the coil will limit rpm if the solenoid circuit is open. It would be interesting to see a list of M-tronic diagnostic codes. One could better gain understanding the capabilities and limitations of the ignition/fuel system. Scott did a nice thread on the system, I can't find it now.
Not sure if/how the spark plug figures into things.

Yes it is very true many have ported it different ways. Is that no longer possible because all bases were covered?

It is possible. I just find it hard to believe no one else can cross 13.5 if it is truly 100% unlimited.
Scott eluded to some paremeters that must be taken into account...

Solenoid is still plugged in so it should not see an open...
