So is the default on the solenoid closed? It would need to open more to limit the saw with fuel. Not less...
It could very well just be programmed as a governor at 13.5 or whatever. If it turns faster than the programming allows it opens the solenoid fully to limit the saw.

Electronically going back to the stihl contract days of choking a saw out. Guess it also helps keep temps down. I love the 661.

I'm going to guess the inlet lever spring was changed or altered in the carburetor.

out of curiosity, what are you guys using for spark plugs?
Typically a stock recommend spark plug but in the new electronic saws I think a non resistor plug may help trick a ignition system, or a cooler plug to heat up faster and clean out quicker

Imo. I think if it is going to be too much work to get a 200 300 hundred rpm out of these new saws. Then might as well just get it to push more power and torque and put a bigger spur ring on it if you want the chain speed. They pull a skip chain through everything with a 32 inch bc. All in all the 661 was a big improvement to the 660 stock to stock. I love the saw

How would the resistor, or non resistor affect the ignition system at all?

This is more like 2,000 rpm, not 200

Some guys are who want to race a 661 are tryin to get it fully unlimited. Makes a big difference when you hit the wood 2,000 rpm faster than the next guy

Thankfully, I don't build saws for racing. I've never tried any non-stock parts on a 661 (except a piston).
