So is the default on the solenoid closed? It would need to open more to limit the saw with fuel. Not less...
It could very well just be programmed as a governor at 13.5 or whatever. If it turns faster than the programming allows it opens the solenoid fully to limit the saw.

yes, limited by fuel, not spark, ive said it over and over

I've had a carb on one several times and could screw the high shut and not get anymore rpm and so has several other people.

your porting, not mine

I'm pretty sure I remember you having a carb on one before and lots of other guys have had to,all them saws that several different people ported won't turn anymore rpm with a wj69 than the mtronic because there all ported wrong?

My only neighbor and good buddy that's been a engineer for Stihl for 37 years will tell you that the coil is limited as well as limiting it with fuel.
I put the theory to the test today on a 362 that had a big airleak it would 4 stroke the start to run away and it would get caught by the coil, you could hear the difference plain as day.
It's not going to stop 4 stroking and gain rpm then start 4 stroking agsin, the coil caught it.
It was faster than when it's 4 stroking but limited none the less.

the first time we put a wj69 on a saw, about a year ago, we got 14,200.
changed porting since then and now get 14,800 with a wj69 and 13800 with mtronic card

I like puzzles Scott and I commend your work on these saws. I have put alot of time into the 661 also. My time in these is pure enjoyment of a hobby.

Do you still have the stock mtron carb harness with solenoid attached to the 4701?

I can guarantee you that it's not as simple as a wj69 or we all would have a unlimited one.

It does have to pass epa emissions as do all kinds of other limited saws.
461 for instance or a 7910 or a 390.

I guess technically you could give it a decent sized airleak and get some more rpm.
