Ash with some natural lean. No bore cut but a little fiber pull. I cut one beside it a couple years ago and bored into and when I got the hinge set it set down on the bar. The wedges in it wouldn’t lift and not enough room for more so it had to be pulled over

Howdy Mike. Hope all is well over there.

Why do you think the previous one sat down? Was the tree rotten on the inside?

Here’s a gnarly one from yesterday.

Preface- This is a Danger/Hazard Tree.
Please do not take on one of these without Adequate Knowledge & Skill Set.

Lightning Struck Poplar from last week’s storm.

Bark Yard & fence in Subdivision. The only straightforward access is the gate.

See him tied in to an adjacent tree?
Also notice the Trucker’s Straps holding the Stem together. This thing was split from within 25’ of the top, all the way to the bottom.

Wait,

This is the felling forum.

My Mistake.

It’s on the ground that’s what matters with no damage hats off to you guys. From time to time there’s days I miss picking up a saw but it’s sure been nicer having the saw carry me.

It had a small spot maybe 4” round that was hollow in an 18-20” tree. Never had a good healthy looking tree like that do anything like that before with a hinge and the back trigger area left

That stinks.
I had a hard leaner I notched, then bored from the bad side as there was a small tree they wanted saved on the good side, dang thing had stress cracks in it and she sat down on my 24" stihl light. Pulled the powerhead and grabbed another bar from the truck and made a step cut below the first from the bad sideband watched the back half of the stump rip out of the ground and the tree roll onto my bar . Got everything limbed out and bucked up and pulled the round with my bar in it out of the ground and it was perfectly straight, and just when I thought the only luck I had was bad luck lol.

Any thoughts/advice from the more experienced on this one. I kept went to the most solid wood I could on it for the notch, and as soon as I saw rotten chips I stopped. I seem to get nasty rotten ones or they are up against a house/garage/fence or sometimes both nasty and up against something or over something.Screen Shot 2019-02-26 at 9.53.15 PM.png Screen Shot 2019-02-26 at 9.54.41 PM.png
