The muff modded 029Supa I gave to my FIL has been a decent firewood saw.

I have a bunch of saws and many 66's but that one is my favorite. The 394 beside it is also a favorite. The 44s I just got so they haven't earned there keep yet.

If I had to guess in my area a XL12 cut more wood than anything.

My favorite saw to run lately has been a 365 special.

You are saying that a Stihl 066 Mag and a Husky 394 are firewood saws? Seems like professional loggers use these big boys around here. Most loggers seldom cut firewood. They ask me to do that. Whenever they do, my Stihl MS660 remains silent most of the time. Makes more sense to drop down 2 to 4 pounds.

When I do cut firewood it's with a big saw,it's what you get used to.

Believe it or not, I have been into some pretty good sized logs blocking firewood for my father in law. Logs large enough to bury the 24" bar on my 372 and then some... Sometimes a big saw is an asset to a firewooder.

Here's a good all-around firewood saw. A bit lighter than an MS290, just as strong, and still available used for half the price of a new 290:





The 028 Wood Boss. The saw that Stihl should never have discontinued.

I use the 66 most of the time, every once in a while I cut timber but mostly firewood. Sometimes the 088 and 090 are my firewood saws for the day.

I get some big wood around here
