Yes I figure I will be picking Tor's brain quite a bit once I start this project in a couple months. :)

Seems like quite a little hot rod even in stock form looking at the specs.

Went to GKS today and rummaged through the junk pile. Found this little gem begging to be overhauled and I didn't have the intestinal fortitude to say no to her. She came home with me for 60 bucks. Looks to be complete, only flaw visible thus far is a crack in the cylinder cover that was stitched up with mechanics wire. I have been wanting a sub-45cc, mag case, pro saw for a bit now and needless to say I'm excited as hell to have brought this home, my first 2xx series! :) I passed up on 254, 262, 266, and 268 builders for this one. great find, if you ask me you have got a super deal on her!!!
242 has a tad shorter power head compared against 346, my feeling when using them is that distance from front handle bar to throttle lever is shorter also hence why I always ment that 242 is the fastest limbing saw Husky ever made!

You are a lucky man living so close to a honey hole like that.
Yeah, only about 9 miles from my house. He doesn't have a huge store, but he has quite a bit in stock for saws and being in business for almost 40 years they have a bit of a junk pile. It's as fun as picking the junkyard for parts for my old truck. :)

Thanks Tor, I just hope I can find all the parts I need to give this saw the complete overhaul it deserves. :)

Yes I saw your 254, VERY nice!

I looked up the 242 on Acres, says 3.1hp, 15.5k max no load RPM. And I didn't typo that number either.. LOL!

I have been watching a few 242 vids, I don't think I'm going to try and port it. Seems like a little compression bump (BG delete) and muffler mod might be all that little hotrod needs to give it a tad more grunt to go with that sky-high RPM capability. I'm going to go nuts being a "good boy" waiting for the right time to dig into this thing.. But it's also time for us to work our saws here, not so much work ON them. LOL!

Tor has more 2 series saws than should be legal, I just got my first G model today a 254xpg that Rattler ported, looking forward to running it some. The 242 is known for high RPM, stock is somewhere around 14,200 or 14,500 I believe.
I seen under the skirt of that saw lol

I dont feel I got enough of those 2xx saws :D
Rattler build some mean 2xx saws, I got one 262 he used his magic fingers on, and trust me, its a monster!
You cant go wrong with a 254 xpg, its a legendary chainsaw in Norway and Sweeden.
242 is wot 15.5k, stock mine is tuned around 15.3, my ported ones 15.8-16k
