Went to GKS today and rummaged through the junk pile. Found this little gem begging to be overhauled and I didn't have the intestinal fortitude to say no to her. She came home with me for 60 bucks. Looks to be complete, only flaw visible thus far is a crack in the cylinder cover that was stitched up with mechanics wire. I have been wanting a sub-45cc, mag case, pro saw for a bit now and needless to say I'm excited as hell to have brought this home, my first 2xx series!I passed up on 254, 262, 266, and 268 builders for this one. Well he still has a few there. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I checked out a complete 2100, even had what I would guess to be a 32" B&C still mounted on it.Ive been know to by dead 2 series Huskys if you come across complete ones.

Yeah, only about 9 miles from my house. He doesn't have a huge store, but he has quite a bit in stock for saws and being in business for almost 40 years they have a bit of a junk pile. It's as fun as picking the junkyard for parts for my old truck. You are a lucky man living so close to a honey hole like that.
Thanks Tor, I just hope I can find all the parts I need to give this saw the complete overhaul it deserves.great find, if you ask me you have got a super deal on her!!!
242 has a tad shorter power head compared against 346, my feeling when using them is that distance from front handle bar to throttle lever is shorter also hence why I always ment that 242 is the fastest limbing saw Husky ever made!
I seen under the skirt of that saw lolTor has more 2 series saws than should be legal, I just got my first G model today a 254xpg that Rattler ported, looking forward to running it some. The 242 is known for high RPM, stock is somewhere around 14,200 or 14,500 I believe.
let me know if you need some new oem parts, we may still have them at Husky NorwayThanks Tor, I just hope I can find all the parts I need to give this saw the complete overhaul it deserves.![]()
