Went and picked up some Bradford pear today from a customer. Not large pieces but it will be good for projects.

I had noticed this walnut over the summer with the top broken out. Decided to investigate, pulled out a branch that had come down and will drop the tree tomorrow. It measures about 22” at the base, smaller than I would normally harvest but I need to mill it before the top starts to rot. By the way, I trimmed the end of that branch with my Stihl MSA140 battery powered saw.

Got the walnut down… I was able to get a strap around the dangling branch and pull it down. When I dragged it out of the woods the grapevines pulled down the other branch. Should be some interesting color in the broken top.

Got everything out of the woods and bucked up, time to mill it.

Finally had time to post. Sealed all the ends and milled up 2 of the big sections. There was a lot of tension in one log and it blew apart. Also got most of the limbs milled up. Cleaning out another old house to stack wood in.

I milled up the last of the Bradford pear I had. Cleaned out another abandoned house so I can use it for wood storage.

How many hours on your Honda gx v-twin?

Many commercial pressure washer guys and mud-motor folks have had issues with electrolysis corrosion on a mini fuse behind the ignition switch at about 100 hours of use. I suspect two dissimilar metals between the fuse slot and the fuse. It gets so bad, your engine won't crank over. BUT, it is usually never that nice denso starter.

Anyhow, pull that fuse and replace once a season. Fill fuse slot with dielectric grease bud!:

Clean the contacts with sandpaper and put on some Noalox. Should solve that for good.

Yep that noalox is good stuff for aluminum. When I had first pulled the fuse, the inside of the fuse was so caked full of electrolysis corrosion, a new fuse was needed.

Forgot to add: fuse slot will always be clean, and sprays out easily with electrical cleaner. But the fuse itself almost acts as if it's a sacrificial anode (like on a boat motor).

It only has about 85 hours on it. It sat over the winter a couple of years ago and I had to replace that 30 amp fuse.

Today’s task was hickory. I do not normally mill it and only do so if it is fresh cut due to its hardness. Got it cut up and most of it stacked and stickered. I milled it in 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4 thicknesses.

Sunday’s task, cedar… An older couple I know had this come over in one of their fields. I cleaned it up for the wood, surprisingly there is no center rot.
