It is an invasive species, grows like a weed and is hard to kill. Lots of tension in the log, the one pictured split in the time to mill the next board. I have included a picture of one of the logs.
I have been doing some tree work and cleanup for a friend of mine. The cherry that I have recently milled has come her property. I have been hauling it out with a hand truck as I could not get my tractor into where it is.
I found this little 4 WD Yanmar diesel tractor with a loader about 60 miles from me on Marketplace and bought it this morning. It is small and light enough to get into tight places. Her next door neighbor lost this cherry tree in the storm last week and I will grab that as well.
Bought this truck yesterday after wanting it for over 40 years. One owner, less than 42K original miles and a Midwest body with twin cylinder hoist. It was sold new at the dealership where I work.
Today’s adventure started with reinstalling the forks on my tractor. I had broken the weld on the bracket for the tilt cylinder. Had to take it off, grind it down and weld it back up.
Once that was done I was able to get some milling in. Finished up the last of the cherry I had and started on some smaller walnut logs from a couple of trees that uprooted into a field.
I also dropped this 24” walnut as well. The top had broken out of it and I decided to take it out before it started to really rot.
