That’s crazy looking grain. From what I understand, this stuff grows very quickly. That last pic looks like it was cut right around the pith. The growth rings near the center are huge.

Milled up some more poplar for stickers, some of it had nice color. These all came out of storm damaged trees, I got about 225 stickers out of what I scavenged. Stacked them upstairs in the abandoned house I use for storage.

Today was clean up day. Cut all the grass and weed whacked all around the mill and all my equipment and trailers. Cleaned up old scraps and slabs and hauled them to the burn pile.

I then concentrated on small piles of logs I had scattered about. Milled the rest of the Bradford pear I had, cut up my last three Ailanthus logs I had and then tackled some pine logs that have been laying around for a while.

My next door neighbor dropped this 12’ red oak on my mill last weekend. To say it is heavy is an understatement, it took 3 of us to turn the log. I milled some 4/4 and 8/4 slabs and finally had enough and pulled the last 4” slab off. I am getting buried by sawdust but I have a coworker who says he will take it.

I can second the "heavy red oak" statement. That stuff is heavy when green and takes twice as long as any other wood I've milled to dry.
I need a big mill and a tractor...

Today was sawdust cleanup day. I had been putting this off for a couple of months and the sawdust was up to the rails of my mill and packed around the wheels and axles. I loaded a trailer full for a coworker and will give him another load shortly.
