Ok this nightmare moon 281xp build, because parts are so hard to come by, I'm wondering if I can just leave out the heat shield deflector for the muffler. Older ipl's don't show it. My reasoning is that a dual ported muffler is not going to trap the heat in the muffler, thus the muffler and head stay cooler. Am I out of line, or am I just a day late and a dollar short lol. I love my new stove top work bench, loosing screws on a daily basis!IMG_20201216_170509240.jpg

No experience with that saw, but I follow your logic on the stihl saws, and don't get too worried if I don't have the heat shield. The older models did not have them, and I open up the mufflers and pull the carb limiters.

I use it if I have it, but I've never had a problem not having one.
