Timesert kit...anyone have one?

Got a 461 cylinder from a buddy a while ago. He said one of his employees tried to do a spark plug repair, and it blew out. Told him I'd do a little research to see if I could get it done, or find someone Who could.
Bought the 2x oversized timesert...but don't have the proper kit...or facilities to do it...

Anyone be willing to help me out?

You may want to touch base with @srcarr52. I know that he has welded up cylinders.

Have that welded and drilled back to the 14mm.

Here is a thread I started using the Save-A-Thread repair kit from Heli-coil. It also has a video on using them. I followed the instructions and fixed a MS200t cylinder that was stripped.

I have and use the Time-Serts and they work great, but I agree with Mike and Keith in that the best fix for that is to have it welded up and re-tapped. I can throw a Time-Sert in it for you if it's not too wallowed out.

I think it would be ok for the oversized time sert...which I have. However, proper kit to install is much more than I was wanting to pay for a one time use...lol

I've used the saveathread.....works well...but gotta put the insert in with jbweld..not silicone. then hammer on the mandrel until solid...works fine

Have you had failures using silicone?

I need to replace a 440 jug cause someone phuk up while installing a plug. Going with a metior jug and may do a Lil mm and possibly some port massaging to give it a Lil more grunt

with the silicone it just wasn't stable... its possible that with the silicone I just hadn't hit the mandrel hard enough, but my 2nd go around I used jb weld instead... not taking chances. I believe the saw in question is still in service. DEFINITELY need to remove the jug to do this though.

Gotcha... I used Dirko but considered jb. We'll see if she holds.

The time-sert big sert kits are around $300. Maybe an auto repair shop near you might have the kit. If not I can weld that hole shut and shoot the new 14mm thread in it.

Damn that's handy, wish I new someone this side of the pond that could do it!
