Bought the 2x oversized timesert...but don't have the proper kit...or facilities to do it...
Anyone be willing to help me out?
Have you had failures using silicone?I've used the saveathread.....works well...but gotta put the insert in with jbweld..not silicone. then hammer on the mandrel until solid...works fine![]()

Gotcha... I used Dirko but considered jb. We'll see if she holds.with the silicone it just wasn't stable... its possible that with the silicone I just hadn't hit the mandrel hard enough, but my 2nd go around I used jb weld instead... not taking chances. I believe the saw in question is still in service. DEFINITELY need to remove the jug to do this though.
The time-sert big sert kits are around $300. Maybe an auto repair shop near you might have the kit. If not I can weld that hole shut and shoot the new 14mm thread in it.
