Anyone have any experience with these Tillotson carbs? They're manufactured for machines that didnt originally run Tillotsons (MS-361, 372xp etc). I have a tillotson x-change on my MS-361 and love it, and the price points are almost unbelievably reasonable. Thinking of putting one on my 365 Special (A carb kit is around $10 for a walbro one, and a new Tilly x-change carb is $25). Just wondering if anyone else has any experience or feedback on these latest offerings from Tillotson.

Tillotson has a list of available units on their website. You find them on eBay a lot, but theyre definitely genuine Tillotson. I dont recall the model # for the one that fits my MS-361, but it seems pretty top-tier.

If I hadn't just purchased and installed a carburetor kit for my Walbro equipped 365 Special, i'd have given the Tillotson a shot. Hell, for $25 I may buy one anyways just to have squirreled away.

For reference, the tilly for the MS-361 is $20, and the HD-6/HD-12 Walbro replacement for the 365/372xp is $25. Thats just ridiculously cheap if you ask me.

Thats my hesitation. I believe the tilly carb for the 365 is actually ONLY for the 365. Their site lists it as a replacement for Zama, not Walbro, and they only mention the 365 as the model it fits. Not the 365 special or 372xo. So while it'll physically fit a 372xp, it damn sure won't fuel adequately if they stuck with all the Zama dimensions.

Also, i've seen some variations in the 361 carb (photos) as well. One vendo shows photos that look like a Zama, with relief cutouts all over the carb. Another shows a solid, nicely machined unit, same part #, twice the price. I happen to have the solid-body Tillotson for my 361, and it's oustanding. And no limiter caps. Good ol' spring and screw setup

That's the list Tilly has on their site but I don't believe it's complete, as they do make a carb for the MS-361 that's not listed there. There may be others as well.
