Exactly what’s going on Al!
I need to contact my GI doc tomorrow and see what he wants to do.
Also need to start taking iron again.

Jeremy, when they did my scopes last January and eventually discovered the Celiac I didn't have a hiated hernia but lots of damage to the esophagus. The put me on Rabeprazole ( https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-17504/rabeprazole-oral/details ) one a day for a full year to try and allow the esophagus to heal. They then put me on 300mg Iron twice to three times a day but I can hardly function with 2 no way I can do 3. I can't stand prunes...

Reminds me, I am due another blood test...

Well you get a catch 22 with too much iron .If you don't have enough you get an anemic condition conversely too much it will plug you up tighter than a bulls ass at fly time .I've tried to encourage lady fair with a prune or two every day .Sunsweet makes some that aren't too bad from what she says .--then again too many prunes ----not good

I’ve been on Nexium / omeprazole for the last 10+ years.

On the subject more, my blond headed former high school cheerleader now grandmother gets her condition monitored about every three or four months .I think it's just one of those things you just need to stay on top of like it or not you have to do it .

Georgia keeps a supply of Nexium on hand in case her other runs short .It works but takes about twice as much .I recently turned her on to Canadian pharmacy stuff which is far cheaper that even going through her insurance prices .< that right there kind of annoys me --don't get me started on big pharma .

I’ve been on Nexium / omeprazole for the last 10+ years.

My family Dr made a surprising comment about it being Rabeprazole that the GI Specialist chose and not omeprazole. Basically she commented that she was surprised that the GI chose that one but then the GI Dr is the specialist. Might be worth asking about a different med, it may have a different method of action to make it work better for you after all this time.

I have been doing extremely well on Nexium.
The main issue though is the hernia.
30% of my stomach is in my lung cavity.
This causes a little bit irritation on the esophagus. Enough to make me critically anemic over a period of 3yrs.
This happened to me 3yrs ago. And the docs monitored me every other week until my iron levels and hemoglobin were normal. After that, they took me off the iron and said I was good to go. Unfortunately according to the ER doc, because I have celiac disease, they should have continued to monitor.
My wife, who also has celiac (ironically), gets iron infusions every 6 months or so.
A person with celiac cannot absorb iron as well as someone who does not.
