Sorry about your frustrating day. But I gotta say, your grammatical illustrations of the events that transpired were an incredibly entertaining read. I felt like I was reading something that Mike Rowe authored. Ha ha ha! Well done!

the Stihl block off manifold that comes with the pressure vacuum kit, it has a plug that is integral for blocking the impulse line, you can almost see it hanging out of the carb box in the first pic

I am a total fancy tool nerd :)
Boot is new but I will spray it with bubbles just in case.
Of course I have to redo the clutch side seal after blowing it across the room with the metal spacer :(

I know this is a pain but I'm old school. I block the muffler with a tire tube and reinstall to make the seal. I then use another tube to block the carb. I insert the Mighty Vac on the impulse line. This will assure the line is good. I'm seen brand new impulse lines leak.

Just a couple weeks back I pulled a big, Duuuh! I use my Mity Vac almost daily and have so for many years. Pulled out a saw I just rebuilt and ported, was ready to ship it off, box and stuffing at the ready. Thought I would give it its last go over, clean it up as I had test run it and tuned it. Put in the blockers and test plug and hooked up the vac tool, sum of a beech, wouldn`t hold vac, try pressure and nope wouldn`t hold. What the fark! .started pulling the saw apart, squirting suds all about, pulled the flywheel, clutch and no bubbles anywhere. Stopped, had a coffee and had a light bulb idea from out of right field. I blocked the end of my test hose with my thumb, tried vac, nope won`t hold, pressure neither, dip the hose in the liquid and there were the bubbles!!!!

I gotta ask what the JB weld is for?
I know as much about machining as I know about arthroscopic surgery, which is to say....nada

Yours is on the right Dave, when I turn down the raised area around where the stack will be it is hollow. I found this out on mine, which I need to JB weld and turn it down a little farther. Gives the filter a little more room to clamp on.
