Sure. Great wood for smoking, although it can be pungent if left on for too long or if it's green still

I've sold some to a couple people. Said it was the best smoked meat they ever had; the wood was dry, and they both bug me for more. One guy brought me some ribs and they were amazing. I just don't see a lot of cherry around here.

We have quite a bit here. Grows in sandy areas on the edges of hardwoods and fields. Usually has some poplar and basswood types nearby

Last year, I had about 9 jobs in a row that I cut all cherry trees like the bark in my left pic. They all seemed to have root rot. Very weak root system. I got some nice wood out of it.

Two types of locust.
This is the one we mostly see in our region (relatively short triangular shaped thorns)

My dad calls this one special (long pointy thorns), he grew it from a seed (and I dropped a tree on it, ups)

What is the difference between these two?

Is honey locust as resilient as black locust?
I kinda broke my dads honey locust in half by dropping a tree on it.

We have black locust everywhere but I have never seen honey locusts.
I guess the species is not common to my area. o_O

Is honey locust as fast growing as black locust?
We get up to 1" diameter sticks of black locust within a year.

That's kinda what I thought. I just didn't realize it was that heavy. I thought it was more like pine.

No sir. I did a few years back. It doesn't coal up. Burns to ash like a cigarette.
