@Wilhelm , you have quite a share in the Dolmar Makita factory,
if they were still going you would be their poster boy, big bucks,
free saws, parties, and calendars with you on every page, imagine
all that fame, now only a dream.
I am used to wake up with my own D in my hands, still better than nothing! ;)

Fame?
I am not a peoples person, so this is a blessing. :)

All I want now is that owners start panic selling their Dolmar equipment realizing they are being bent over by Makita!

:buitre:

My only regret is investing in Makita battery equipment.
No backing out though, I am already too deep in that mess.

@Wilhelm , ... and calendars with you on every page, ...
I am not media material , they'd Photoshop me out and replace me with a big boobed chick.
Heck, I'd pay for that calendar though! :p

What is wrong or regretful about buying Makita battery equipment,
at least they are still making it, and you can get parts.

*s-wordty performance to begin with!

And, NO on them "making it" - they abandoned their 36Volt system just to come out with a 40Volt one.

Their battery packs are also average at best.
One would think they know how to make good batteries and equipment that will pair up with them.
That's what they get for going "Made in China" on nearly everything.

Here is my little Makita UC250D, true 36Volt system, brushed motor, taking apart the crown of that mulberry.
She depleted 2 batteries and I admit that is fairly good performance.
I need to get a full chisel chain on that cutie!

Now that was bad of them, and good to know, I have been contemplating
getting a battery saw, a small one for total emergency times, like cutting
out another saw, Makita and Echo were on my radar, I am surprized to hear
Makita are not getting the battery part right, they have been at it for a very long time. Echo battery saws have done will in the video comparisons I have seen, but they do not make drills or angle grinders so their battery would be of less use, as I could not for example buy a drill and make use of their saw battery.
I will need to read up more.

They would have been better coming out with a 54 volt saw, using three batteries, at least they would not have upset users already in the 18 volt sector.

My Makita DUC353 2x18Volt is MEH!!!
Overheats, stalls and shuts down.
Brushless motor junk!
Pulls so much power the batteries overheat becoming very warm to the touch - take into account that the battery packs cells do not touch the outer plastic housing at all, one wonders how hot are the cells getting.

Take a look at EGO 56 Volt saws.
Huge powerful batteries made with high quality, high capacity, high drain cells.

If You'll only use the battery saw once every couple months then it doesn't really matter, get what is most common in Your area and has every tool You may desire in its offering.

Makita keeps proving that they do not care about backward compatibility with already existing systems!
They don't care about their own products, why would they care about their customers?!

I believe Makita made the 40Volt system into a 2x40Volt system, cutoff saw I think.

Makita advertises their 2x18Volt battery saws as "equivalent to modern 30cc gasoline powered chainsaw" - trust me, they are NOT!

Food for thought. ;)

yes it is Wes I will be having one too have a look at in a week or two
Is the Walbro carbed saw better than a Zama carbed one, or is the mention of carbs just
in relation to identifying whether or not these saws might be using the Makita / Dolmar motors.

I feel the Walbro are better quality. However, a Zama is better than what could have been a simple generic fake Walbro. So Whether Walbro or Zama, I think yer OK.
The strongest running stock saw I ever had was a zama controlled 044.

Well I had a look @Wilhelm , battery saw comparison, Echo the clear winner, though the heaviest saw.
Fastest battery saws-.jpg Fastest battery saws-.jpg
TOTAL CUTS IN THE SAME LOG UNTIL BATTERY FLAT, Echo did the most by a good bit.
Number of cuts in same sized log-.jpg
