I haven’t seen any yet , but I did say too @wyk if I found one at the right price
I would get one and take some plastic off and bare all
Well no point in me buying one, I would not know anyway, you have the hands on experience
to tell what is what, looking online they are cheaper in the UK than Ireland, and I have yet to
find anywhere here that keeps parts, without parts who is going to buy them, only people who
don't think ahead, even if they were using Makita engines, no parts still sucks.

Passed up on this Husqvarna 365 Special in favor of getting another Dolmar in the future.

Stiga better find another supplier, 'cause didn't Dolkita gas saw production end last march? Don't know why they would kill their own line but keep making them for an obscure little brand.

Makita is unlikely to be their supplier, per se. Granted, they likely have shifted some Makita stock to Stiga. But what appears to have happened here is Stiga bartered the rights to produce equipment using Makita/Dolmar machinery and iP. In Ireland, Stiga saws go for about half what Husqvarna do.

I wasn't surprised at all to see someone had acquired the rights to their 2T equipment when they left the market. They likely got it for a stihl. Er, steal ;)

People weren't buying Dolmar/Makita due to poor dealership and parts supply, why'd anyone consider purchasing a clone of that brand other than as a throwaway chainsaw?

People are weird!

It depends on the market. In Western Europe, UK and Ireland, Husqvarna and Stihl are very expensive. Had Dolmar and Makita done a better job with support, they would have easily made inroads. If Stiga can come in and sell Makita equipment at Stiga prices, they have a chance of making a dent.

Maybe Stiga put more effort into keeping parts available, I see lots of Stiga chainsaw parts in Europe.
A chainsaw with no parts availability is not much of a buy.

That's the problem I had with Dolmar. My only supplier would have been Andrew, and even he is struggling. I wanted to go with a 7900, but not knowing if I can find a part I need without having to go scrounge all over the internet put a damper on that idea here in Ireland. Hell, right now it's hard enough to get parts I need for Husky or Stihl sometimes.

That is why I jump on every great and good deal on used good running condition Dolmar (Makita  ) I can get my hands on!
I am also stocking up on OEM small to medium ticket item parts while I still can.

I have mentioned this before, I have enough saws to serve me till I die - and I am not delusional, I ain't gonna live to know what dementia feels like!
I could fry 1 chainsaw every year and I would have enough left to serve me at old age.

But, that doesn't keep me from getting more Dolmar saws!

Stiga!!???
I am appalled enough to own saws with Makita stickers! :vomiton22je:

R.I.P. Dolmar ! :icon12:

That's true, parts even from the big two are not even easy to get now. And the prices
of their saws just keeps on climbing, seconded only by echo, they have got serious
expensive now too, not much difference in the price of a comparable pro saw from either.

Makita tried to sell saws here in Ireland, I remember in 2000 people coming in and
being told we stock Makita, they laughed, thought the dealer was insulting them,
they usually left for the Stihl or Husky dealers.
May be the new Makita is a Stiga, now that would be a turn for the books.
I do not mind paying for a saw if I can get parts for it, but I so dislike AT and MT,
and will avoid them until the bitter end.

Thats similar to what happened here. The shops never took Makita seriously as a saw brand, even if they were in fact renamed Dolmars. As a result, pretty much only tool rental places and online sellers carried them. Every Dolmar dealer I can think of here did not pick up Makita when the Dolmar name was dropped, they all just made more room for Stihl/Husky/Echo instead. Why would they do otherwise, and go from a well respected but low volume sideline chainsaw brand to one which is mostly associated with electric tools for the building trades?

There’s a lot of husqvarna dealers over here selling stiga saws and equipment alongside
And if availability is there with the parts as well good news
Stiga Uk HQ is only 45 mins from me so I will be doing some research
