For anyone wondering, i finally got around to installing the ms362cm coil in the ms261cmb, and it runs great, so it is a viable replacement option for a 261 with no spark
Thats great to hear...

I do believe i have a solution to my not hot start 261.,,, seems the early mtronic has a different reset than the new ones... start it on start and let it run there for 90secs.. shut it off,, seems to have worked,, starts hot may take a couple pulls,, went thru 2 tanks and did multiple starts...
I guess if you use a newer coil you would use a newer reset??

Yes any mtronic 2.1 or higher uses the idle 30 seconds minimum then hold wide open well it gos high rpm low then high again and its reset.

Also, fun little side note, my 261 was a mtronic 2.0 originally... it is now a 2.1 or 3.0, as it is the 30 sec idle/full throttle til high rev reset... carb solenoid is still the black solenoid fyi

Well guess we’ll see how long it lives under use
That we will.... LOL wanna take bets on whats going to die first, the black solenoid due to contamination, or the chinese $10 piston? LOL or are they going at the same time....

Also side note, i have a brand new spare carb for the 261, also with black solenoid... so if the first one dies that came in the saw, i have a backup already...

What’s a Stihl 441C magnum worth ? A guy has one that’s in good shape, runs good, not a lot use and a fairly new 25” bar and chain. I’ve read quite a few posts about guys who don’t like them and don’t want to buy something that’s going to have issues but he’s only asking $300. Thanks for any advice

Like Randy said, 300 is a steal... if its in good shape, its likely worth 550-600 to the right buyer... i think a lot of guys dislike them because of the emmissions stuff that had to be added over the old 044/440 platform, its more peaky than the old tractor of a work horse that everyone knew and loved...

Along those lines, whats an early 026 (not pro) likely to be worth, been rode hard and put away wet for many years, and currently has an air leak that will be fixed once i put the new crank seals in that are on my toolbox...LOL not really looking to hang on to this one, as i already have a 261cm, as well as a 280c...probably gonna move that one along the way as well... but it was given to me and i kinda want to flip it...

It runs well other than rev hanging on the idle, and pulls a 18" 325 full chisel chain thru black loqust like butter...
