You are correct I was remembering the wrong 038 that was compared to the 042. 038 super is 67cc and I had one of them also.
That one there ,038 super is one I've only seen two of .On that I think world wide more mags where made than the 038 AV and super combined

Mine is still around I gave it to my uncle who needed a bigger saw occasionally. It was an 038 farm boss and all oem had the 67cc cylinder and chain brake with electronic ignition

You don't see them that clean even if you ever even see one because of the rarity .These series of saws were replaced with center drive oil pumps,024-026,034 ,036 ,044,046 etc .About the same displacements and a little bit lighter . Of the center drive series the 024 and 034 super are all I own but I think I have all of them of the gear driven series .Then again I've been at it for a long time .They just show up like stray cats .

As far as IPL's I have a dealers book that must weigh 20 pounds,CD ROM ,micro fiche and varied models of manuals .Because of Stihls allegations of intelectual property I won't send send them over the net but I can look up part numbers .Might take me a couple of days to find them though .

I got my little MS180 back after a "lend out "to a friend. Ive been trying to make more user friendly with some upgrades.
One problem im having is the oiler is no beuno, I've disassembled, cleaned ,and reinstalled everything but still no joy.
I have the 250 ipl and the oil pump itself looks the same , but not being the og owner of it has me questioning whether the pump is clocked correctly?
Little port to the output and slot towards the rear handle?
I have a kit just incase. 20230525_204322.jpg20230525_204327.jpg

This little guy has the oiler fixed with the kit. Put a fully adjustable carburetor on it, rim sprocket-.325, opened up the muffler ,dual bar studs, and reset the flywheel slop to advance.
When's WCS gonna come out with the bark box for this bad boy!

This is my most used chainsaw. Its my first and the first one I rebuilt. It was a low hours saw that someone ran without oil and scoured up the cylinder, piston and rings. It looks like they must have thrown it in disgust because the dog was bent and the gas tank had a leak. Soon after it was given to me I bought a cylinder/piston package on sale @HL for under $12. Had to open up the exhaust gasket a little to match the port but overall no other problems and a much better cylinder design than the factorys. I used some epoxy made for plastic on the leaking tank seam. Put on a freebie bar and a freebie chain and boom... best $20 saw I've ever had. I've pushed it to do work that would have been better accomplished with a 60-70cc saw but it's all I had and it got the job done. I can see how people love the 241. About the same size and cc as the 023. It's too bad they discontinued it.
241 is only discontinued here still made in other countries

Hey guys, I need your help id’ing this part. I had my 200t down to tie a rope to the handle. After I put it back up I find this lying in the floor where the little saw sat while I tied the knot.
The controls on the saw function correctly , I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one. What is it? IMG_4991.jpeg

I have an 028 WB that I recently rebuilt with a Highway 46mm piston/ Nikasil cylinder kit, new fuel line/filter, new impulse line, and new intake boot. The saw starts and runs but acceleration is sluggish and it does not seem to be all that strong in the cut (saw is equipped with a 20" bar, .325 chain, test log is oak).

Crankcase passed pressure and vacuum testing, muffler is clear, new spark plug installed, original air filter is clean. I did check the muffler and the screen is clear.

I am just over $112 on parts so far but I'm reluctant to send this one out in this condition, something is not quite right yet.

Any suggestions on where to go next?

Thanks,

Mark
