Finally had time to run the 194t more, no stock videos but I will make some of the muffler modded 194t vs muffler modded 193t. Same amount of timing advance plus the exhaust opened up the same. Pretty large difference between the two so on first impressions I’d make sure I got the 194. It did have me wondering if it was going to gain as much as the 193 because the actual exhaust port on the cylinder is smaller than the 193. It must be large enough because seat of pants feel is it gains the same amount or maybe a bit more.

the carbon covered exhaust is a well used 193 bar to tell in photos but if I had to guess the exhaust port is 10-15% bigger on the 193 vs 194. Pic of both coils also.

Hey folks, I need to order a clutch and drum for an MS880. I do have some local shops that are good to deal with but I wondered if there were other options?

Thanks,

Mark

Let me put it like this .The dealer I deal with might sell an 880 once every two years .Other than flea bay which might not be good idea I think you might be better off with your local dealer .Fact if I needed parts for my 084 I'd imagine the dealer would have to get them from the warehouse in Cincinnati .You probably already know but these giant Stihl saws they just don't stock parts for .My word are they ever proud of them judging by the price .

Seems a bit like buying parts for an SP101-125 doesn't it Mark?
The OEM and the aftermarket both realise they have something that's limited on production, and thus limited for supply for repair parts. Drives the cost up. Wish I had bought a bunch of parts back when these were common. I could sell cheaper and still make out. Bet a lot of old Mac dealelers wish the same.

On the Mac parts as I understand it from info from a prior McCulloch dealer people scoured the country side buying out the parts after McCulloch circled the drain .
These days more times than not if and when they die on the vine they end up in a dealers dead pile and the owners walk out with a brand new shiney saw because there are no repair parts for the good old Mac .
Even if they can be repaired the average chainsaw owner just wants them to start and run .At labor rates $60 and up per hour they don't want to throw good money after bad .A few of those saws end up in the hands perhaps of collectors and the rest end up as as scrap metal or in a land fill .

New OEM for a clutch (1124-160-2005) and drum (1124-640-2004 - 3/8 - 8), (1124-640-2005 - .404 - 7), or corresponding rim drive setups should be around $130.

I've ordered Oregon for my other stihl saws and I think they're well made, that being said for my 088 I try to get oem , if I do go through a dealer parts are 2 weeks too a month out for me on the east coast.

I finished going through my 038 super as in carb rebuilt, rim sprocket conversion, mesh air filter, and new bar&chain.
The saw runs and idles well the compression is good but it feels abit hampered by the stock muffler? Is there a good tri port for this saw?20200126_113728.jpg

I rebuilt an oil pump in my 088 today seems to be doing a much better job now, the shaft gear looked thin and the new spring was definitely stronger.
Is there modifications for oilers on the 038? I'm running a 28" bar and it seems lacking for oil?
