My speculation is that if they had continued, there would have been other variants of that saw. They left extra room for a larger muffler for sure.
I do not think so, the 6100 is just a lone wolf.
It feels like they wanted to get rid of the PS-6400, but also make a run at Strato to comply with exhaust regulations.

They did release the Strato PS-550 (EA5600), which I love very much!

To my knowledge a functional Strato 81cc prototype was in existence.
Then Makita shut down all internal combustion OPE production and everything related to it got scrapped & destroyed!

The PS-550 & PS-6100 are production unicorns, next to no interchangeable parts with other saw models.

Which was the last model to enter production? 5600?

Yes, I think so!

Edit:
Although, the EA3600 may have been the last new model that got released.

I've been trying to get this 3410 back in business, and am having some troubles...

First the carb was just dumping fuel into the intake, even after a deep cleaning. Got the needle height set so it doesn't seem to flood, but the saw will only start on full throttle, then rev up and die. I can feather the throttle to get some good blips off the saw, but it won't seem to idle one bit. The carb holds 10psi pressure (as long as the impulse port is plugged).

Maybe I set the needle too low? I've messed with the carb jets from 1/2 turn out, to ~2.5 turns, and it still won't start without full throttle.

Saw has a new fuel filter, and seems to have been tinkered with. The muffler was gutted, so maybe the previous owner also messed with the reed valves? I'm not familiar with diagnosing reed valve issues, so I'm dropping into the dolmar thread to get some input!

The reed valve is easy to verify: Once the carb is removed there are just two more screws to undo the intermediate flange holding the reeds:

The flaps must lay plain on the flange's surface and may not be buckled or dented. Also check the foam gasket between crank case and flange (removed in the foto above).
My guess for the culprit nevertheless is the carb. From my experience the 3410 is very sensitive to non-optimal functioning carbs. Have you put new diaphragms into it? If not, that should be your starter.

The EA3600's launch was a classic example of a complete *f-word-up, at least in Germany.
First prototypes were shown around 2012, the launch was announced for 2015 and the saw finally
appeared in 2018 (this is for saw's DOLMAR incarnation PS-352, I guess the same applies for the EA3600).
AFAIK she was available about two years earlier in other countries but I'm not sure.

Thus the last ones going into production were PS-550 / EA5600.

Cool, thank You for the clarification Mr. Henry Heinrich "Dolmar Guru"!

I love my PS-550, wish I had gotten a NIB one before all Dolmar prices skyrocketed.

Don't really care about sub 50cc rear handle saws, except my Freak-PS-460.

I like my PS-3400 top handle, though she has been completely neglected as the battery Makita UC250D took over most sub 50cc duty.

I appreciate your detailed answer!

Will be digging into the reed valve today, to get a better idea... It does sound carburetor related still, but it'll be nice to rule out the reed valves.

I was trying to avoid buying a $30 carb kit, but that'll probably come next.

Do you know at what height the needle lever is supposed to lie? I've set mine to be flush with the small ridges that surround the end of the lever, but maybe that's incorrect.

Edit: Looks like my reeds have a slight lift off their seat. The foam is showing a little wear but I'm not seeing any pieces missing

Back to the ea6100...
I was able to source a entire block with good crank and got it all assembled but still having the same throttle problem.
Saw just dies at WOT
Took the carb all apart and rebuilt and shot all the ports out with carburetor cleaner.
Something I did notice was some gouges on the flywheel...can these have any effect on my problem ?
KIMG20250925_093836892.JPG
Also I set the metering lever even with the top of the carb ...from what I found online that's the correct setting.

Thanks very much
Ernie

Flywheel should be fine as long as those gouges do not protrude.

Still carb, just worn out at a bad place causing trouble?
I can't recall whether You tried swapping out the entire carb.

You sure invest a lot of elbow grease in that unit, hope You get her figured out!

I didn't swap the carb as I don't have a donor..I'm gonna have to find one somewhere!
I'm definitely deep into this one but I'm not quitting yet 😂
I didn't think the flywheel would be an issue but just wanted to be sure .
I did get another coil with the donor and same issue so it's not that .

Thanks
Ernie

I may still try run her WOT, short burst, without the muffler.
Let her warm up with muffler on though.
Use really good ear protection if You try!

Primer bulb fine, not cracked?

Huh!

I never new the 6100 had two chain tensioner options:
- 130-213-150 , Pro
- 130-213-160 , Pro-Long
